One reason I feel comfortable in my 2014 Chevy Cruze is that is is much the same size as the Maverick and has a similar feel. The Ford had a beefier engine though: a 302 (5 liter as we say nowadays) V8 which was a lot for a compact car.Richard Bellushhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10108081864942272619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1656921634940224775.post-88402802897420904842014-05-01T11:24:07.236-04:002014-05-01T11:24:07.236-04:00I think this applies to your first car too. I washed that car every other weekend by hand (and sometimes every weekend if we got rain). I took it in for it's check ups like clockwork. I kept it really clean inside. Even as I neared the 10 year mark with it, it looked pretty darn good, even if my washing commitment died around the fifth year or so.

I ended up selling it to my brother in law. When I saw it a few months later I as shocked. Hole in the bumper next to a half ripped bumper sticker, a bunch of fast food wrappers in the back seat and what looked like a cracked panel on the passenger side. I knew it wasn't my car any more, but I still offended. :)

All the cars we've had afterward have been nice and had elements that were much better than my little Escort, but that car will always be a special one for me.Roman J.
